Dr. Juan Hidalgo
Dr. Hidalgo has experience clinical and surgical fields, planning, programming, and evaluating health services in Canada and Latin America both in the public and private sectors. He holds a Medical Doctor degree and has received several trainings and courses related to health management, health services quality improvement, infection prevention, and control and global health.
Prior to moving to Canada in 2014, Dr. Hidalgo worked for more than 10 years in Ecuador’s health system as a clinician at various health services where he collaborated with managers and teams to develop and plan health services that will fulfill rigorously an accreditation process from an international accreditation body. His areas of intervention have included the clinical field, the surgical division, public health, elderly health, mental health, people-centered care, and infection prevention and control.
Recent projects have included the planning of health quality audits for various hospital sectors, primary care, mental health facilities, and residential homes for seniors. He has been implicated in the infection prevention and control team from the Regional Public Health Directorate in Montréal to prevent future outbreaks and pandemics. Dr. Hidalgo has participated as a surveyor at the international level to validate the implementation and use of continuous quality improvement programs that will ensure safety and quality health services, as well as an advisor for health care organizations in Latin America. He has participated as an expert and facilitator in delivering People-Centered Care training internationally.
